Opening Ceremony on 28 January 2024: Nihongo & Cultural Lessons for Nikkeijin in Negros Occidental 

The Japan Foundation, Manila and the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai Rengokai will hold the opening ceremony of the Japanese language and cultural course for Nikkeijin (Japanese descendants) in Negros Occidental in Bacolod City on 28 January 2024.  

 The Nikkeijin program aims to expand employment opportunities in and outside of the Philippines as well as to strengthen the sense of community and belongingness across the several generations of Nikkeijin. This is the second batch of the course,  the first one concluding in March 2023. 

Thirty-two (32) Nikkeijin will be participating in the program, all of which are members of the Negros Occidental Filipino Japanese Descendants Association, Inc (or Negoros Occidental Chapter). Among the participants, two are of the second generation of the Nikkeijin, 4 are of the third generation, and the remaining 26 are of the fourth generation.
