The Japan Foundation, Manila supports and promotes Japanese Studies in the Philippines to help Filipinos deepen their understanding about Japan. We also provide opportunities for people from Japan and other countries to discuss important global issues and topics of mutual concern. This helps Japan to better express its views and to foster the next generation to carry on future dialogue and exchanges.
Japanese Studies
Supporting Japanese Studies Institutions
We support key Japanese Studies institutions in the Philippines such as universities and research centers to develop Japan specialists. Support can be subsidies for research and international and local conferences, staff expansion, library materials, training in Japan, and publications. We also send visiting professors to these institutions. Such comprehensive and continuing support helps to develop and expand Japanese studies in the Philippines for the long term.
Global Partnerships
With the mission to “cultivating friendship and ties between Japan and the world,” we are working on each of our projects to realize the following three visions, with an emphasis on the formation of human networks, next-generationβs capacity building and the international encounters of people through international dialogue, collaboration, and exchange.
