The Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM) has successfully conducted the opening ceremony and orientation of its Japanese Language and Culture Lessons for the Nikkei-jin in Negros Occidental last Sunday. In line with its goal of enhancing the connection between Japan and the Philippines through culture and language, JFM regularly conducts courses like this to give the Japanese descendants a chance to learn Nihongo, discover another part of their identity, and expand their career opportunities by acquiring a valuable skill.
A total of thirty-two (32) Japanese descendants will be participating in the course after doing the preparatory courses on Hiragana and Katakana, which will allow them to grasp the future lessons based on IRODORI. Course participants were given words of encouragement by two of Bacolod City’s Councilors Hon. Em Legaspi Ang and Hon. Jason S. Villarosa, and motivational messages by previous course participants.
