The Japan Foundation, Manila together with UP Department of Linguistics, and with support from Kamenori Foundation organized the 38th Philippine Nihongo Teachers’ Forum (PNTF). Yasu-hiko TOHSAKU-sensei delivered a talk about a new approach to tests and how to plan assessments to measure students’ learning.
Filipino Nihongo teachers also presented to their peers how they have been conducting Nihongo lectures and adding their own brand of teaching into it. It truly fostered networking and facilitated information exchange about the best teaching practices.
Following the lecture and the presentations by Nihongo teachers in the Philippines, a workshop was held wherein the participants applied their learnings on how to incorporate Formative Assessments in classes for the sake of creating a student-centered learning experience that is not focused on just passing tests but on developing the learners’ proficiency and other essential skills related to the topic.
