TIPS for the JFT-Basic examinees!

The Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) is used to assess whether foreign nationals about to decide in Japan mainly for work have the Japanese language proficiency to be able to engage in everyday conversation to a certain extent and handle daily life without difficulties.

Have you seen the sample questions of the JFT-Basic? If not, please check them first!

JFT-Basic website: https://www.jpf.go.jp/jft-basic/e/index.html

As you see the examples below, you are given a situation and need to answer the questions in the JFT-Basic. The IRODORI books have the similar situation and the Can-do (the goal for each lesson).

Ex. 1: A sample question in the “Listening comprehension” section of the JFT-Basic (left) and a similar situation in the IRODORI book (right).

The students who have used the IRODORI book can imagine the situation and guess what they are going to talk.

Ex. 2: A sample question in the “Reading comprehension” section of the JFT-Basic (upper) and a similar situation in the IRODORI book (bottom).

The students who have used the IRODORI book can imagine the situation and guess what they are going to talk.

Also, the JFT-Basic is conducted through Computer-Based Testing (CBT). In test booths, test-takers answer on the computer screen based on questions displayed on the screen and audio played through the headphones. It is necessary for the test-takers to have got used to the test style by using the computer. The IRODORI Online Course would be very helpful for the preparation before taking the JFT-Basic.
