Sensei no Wa (Online) – August 18, 2020 (Tuesday)

先生の輪は、日本語教師の交流の場です。もっと楽しく、もっとおもしろく一緒に日本語教育を勉強しましょう!
“Sensei no Wa” is open to both experienced and neophyte Japanese-language teachers, and offers a platform for information exchange with one’s peers. It is for the further encouragement of Japanese Language Education and aims to support professional enrichment and network expansion through interactive learning.

Report by grantees of the Basic Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese-Language
海外日本語教師 基礎研修 (September 3, 2019 – February 2, 2020)

Report 1: “Teaching Kana Using the ARCS Model of Motivation.”
                     Ms. Mary Rose B. Antonio (Nihongo Center Foundation Inc.)

Report 2: “Teaching Culture Using PPP (Practice, Product, Perspective) approach”
                     Ms. Almaluna C. Lumapac (Abellana National School, Cebu)

Overview:
Ms. Antonio and Ms. Lumapac attended the Basic Training Program for Teachers of the Japanese-Language 海外日本語教師 基礎研修 conducted by The Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute, Urawa (NC: Nihongo Kokusai Center). Both of them are going to do a presentation on a topic in the training course which impressed them the most. They will both introduce an educational approach for effective teaching.
The ARCS model is an instructional design approach that focuses on the motivational aspects of an effective learning environment. This model was created by John M. Keller, PhD, an educational psychologist.  The PPP approach is a concept for teaching culture employed by the National Standards for Foreign Language Education.
