The Japan Foundation was established in 1972 by special legislation in the Japanese Diet and became an Independent Administrative Institution in October 2003. Its mission is to promote international cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries. As the 18th overseas office, the Japan Foundation, Manila, was founded in 1996 and is active in three focused areas: Arts and cultural exchange, Japanese-language education Overseas, Japanese Studies, and Global Partnerships. Job Title: Program Coordinator for Arts and Culture
Contract: Contractual (one year*) with possible renewal subject to the parties’ mutual agreement.
*The first year will last only until March 31, 2025, the last day of the fiscal year for the Japan Foundation, Manila. The following contract will be a one-year contract.

Primary Purposes of Job:
1. To support the Arts and Culture projects, mainly in the field of Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Intellectual Exchange, which will be carried out under the initiative of the Japan Foundation. In particular, to support project implementation and assessment, research, and program design/development.

2. To help with the Arts and Culture Team, which includes creating and implementing a marketing strategy/plan and writing and editing an article related to JFM activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation
    Assist in smooth and efficient coordination and arrangement in implementing a project, which
    includes coordination with various stakeholders.
  • Research and Program design and development
    Conduct field and literature research on issues relevant to Arts and Culture, including attending seminars, exhibition openings, and performances/concerts conducted by local and international organizations. Based on the outcome and observation/evaluation of the research and instruction from supervisor(s), prepare the project proposal and develop the framework in consultation with supervisor(s).
  • Assessment
    Prepare an assessment report of each project implemented.

Specifications:

Academic Background
  • Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the field is required.
  • Preferably with work experience in Arts and Culture, organizing public talk events, study tours, and editing publications.
  • Preferably with experience in program and event promotions and social media management.
Skills
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
Personality
  • Ability to work proactively, efficiently, and creatively.
  • Ability to work as a team (team player)

Benefits:
The salary will be decided based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
The primary benefits will be provided as determined by the Philippines Labor Code.
