Japanese Studies

The Japan Foundation is now calling for application for travel grant. This grant is for the Japanese studies scholars in the Philippines who have a master’s degree or higher to attend the AAS-in-ASIA Conference in Bangkok to be held at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on July 1-4, 2019. By doing so, the Japan Foundation hopes to see stronger working relationship cultivated among Japan scholars in Asia, North America, and Japan.

Applicant does not have to be a Japan-specialist and can be from various disciplines in humanities and social sciences. However, his/her research theme must be Japan-related. Likewise, Applicant MUST participate the full duration, from July 1-4, 2019 and attend at least FIVE Japan-related sessions at the conference.

By doing so, the Japan Foundation hopes to see stronger working relationship cultivated among Japan scholars in Asia, North America, and Japan.

Applicant does not have to be a Japan-specialist and can be from various disciplines in humanities and social sciences. However, his/her research theme must be Japan-related. Likewise, Applicant MUST participate the full duration, from March 21 to 24, 2019 and attend at least FIVE Japan-related sessions at the conference.

The Japan Foundation announces travel grant for the Japanese Studies scholar from South East Asia and the U.S. on December 5-7, 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

This grant is for the Japanese studies scholars in the Philippines who has master’s degree or higher and preferably has been invited as one of the panelist for the conference. Updated information will be posted the soonest.

By doing so, the Japan Foundation hopes to see stronger working relationship cultivated among Japan scholars in Asia, North America, and Japan.

Applicant does not have to be a Japan-specialist and can be from various disciplines in humanities and social sciences. However, his/her research theme must be Japan-related. Likewise, Applicant MUST participate the full duration, from July 05 to 08, 2018 and attend at least FIVE Japan-related sessions at the conference.

If AAS-in-ASIA schedule  for the “IV Sessions to Attend” is not  yet available when you apply  for the JF travel grant, you  can submit the “IV Sessions to Attend” at a later date when it is made available on the AAS website.

AAS has issued the Call for Proposals for the AAS Annual Conference to be held in from March 22 to 25, 2018 in Washington, D.C.

The Japan Foundation strongly encourages scholars in the field of Japanese studies in Southeast Asia to apply for the conference, and we will consider providing travel grant to paper presenters. Information of application for the travel grant will be opened in October.
