The Japan Foundation’s Nihongo Teacher Training Course：
“Sensei no Nihongo Advanced (SNA) with Practice Teaching Course (PT)”
(SNA: Oct.11 - Dec.13, 2008) (PT: Feb. - Mar., 2009)

The Japan Foundation, Manila in its continuing effort for the professional enrichment of Filipino Nihongo Teachers and for further encouragement of Japanese Language Education in the Philippines, will open on Saturday, October 11, 2008, a course entitled “Sensei no Nihongo Advanced with Practice Teaching Course”.

The course is open for active Nihongo teachers who wish to further improve their Japanese proficiency and teaching skills. Applicants are expected to have intermediate level of Nihongo proficiency (JLPT Level- 2 or equivalent).

Sensei no Nihongo Advanced will be held for six meetings every Saturday (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) from October 11 – December 13, 2008, at the Japan Foundation, Manila. (No classes on Oct.18, Nov.1, 15, and Dec.6) Here, participants will read, write, and talk about contemporary topics on Japan. Topics regarding JLPT Levels 1 and 2 will also be taken up.

For the Practice Teaching course, participants will study basic techniques and exercise their teaching skills. It will be held from February to March 2009 at the Japan Foundation, Manila, the schedule of which will be decided by participants.

The course covers 42 hours. Tuition fee is P3,500.00 and covers the cost of handouts. (Those who have already taken up PT will pay only P1,500.00 for SNA; those who wish to take PT again may do so for the full tuition cost.)

Application must be done by the submission of a duly accomplished application form together with the applicant’s curriculum vitae (in English). Deadline for application is on Tuesday- 30 September. There will be a qualifying level check (written test) on either Wednesday-1 October or Thursday- 2 October (6:20 pm – 7:30 pm).
