The Cultural Center of the Philippines and Tokyo Juho, Inc. will be staging a benefit concert, THE TAIKO EFFECT: Drums of Change at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, CCP Main Theater this April 11 & 12, 2015 at 8:00pm. The proceeds of the event shall be used to aid efforts in the rehabilitation and restoration of our Cultural & Heritage Sites in the Philippines that have been damaged by typhoons, flood and other natural disasters.
Prepare to be thrilled by the heart-pounding beats of the Mt. Fuji Taiko Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Yamanashi Japanese Drum Symphony Orchestra, led by the late Conductor/Composer Amano Sen, 1934-2014), Arahan and with a special Kata demonstration by Hasegawa Karate. Home-grown talent, Japanese artist, Aisaku Yokogawa will kick start the evening’s event with a rendition of well loved classic songs with Filipino and Japanese influences.
This will be the first of a series of events aimed at fostering a stronger relationship between the Philippines and Japan through a cultural exchange program, spearheaded by the Chairman of the ASEAN Exchange Committee, Mr. Hiromi Ishioka (Chief Executive Officer of Akafuji Daiko) with the support and cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Tokyo.
