On August 27 at 5:30pm. Expect another round of captivating classic film from Japan featuring Muteki (The Foghorn) 霧笛 accompanied with live music scored by Makiling Ensemble.
The Japan Foundation, Manila invited film expert Mr. Hidenori Okada, a curator of the National Film Center, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo to talk about the film and its director and the importance of benshi (silent film narrator) in the Japanese Silent Film history.
He will also appear at the Silent Film Festival Film Expert Talk Session (August 27 from 13:30 at Grand Atrium) together with Mr. Nick de Ocampo.
Muteki’s film setting is the port city of Yokohama in the latter half of the 19th century, just as Japan had begun to open its gates to the outside world.
The screening is free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
